Rounding out my Dustin Hoffman series is Marathon Man. I found this movie to be just alright, with a few super awesome scenes that make it worth seeing. I guess that when I read that a film involves “Nazis” and “dental torture”, well, I’m already bracing myself for a scary movie. It didn’t disappoint on the scary, I covered my eyes without shame.
I have to assume that this is a better book than a movie. I didn’t read the book, but I DID read the wikipedia page on Marathon Man, and it told me the ending was re-written, and the author William Goldman hated the re-write. I can’t imagine any author appreciating a complete change in the ending of his/her story, but the end of the film is THE scene. To know the intended ending changes everything. Hollywood strikes again!!
