While we’re on the subject of John Waters, I very recently watched Serial Mom. AS THOUGH I NEEDED ANOTHER REASON TO LOVE KATHLEEN TURNER. Her raspy voice should be named a National Treasure.

I’m a little disappointed in the internet right now, as this is the only clip I can find of the amazing bird-noise scene. (The french version is pretty funny I guess.) You’ll just have to watch the whole movie if you haven’t already.
The plot of Serial Mom revolves around a well-mannered woman who takes her personal belief in propriety to the absolute extreme: murdering anyone who breaks those rules. It’s so satisfying to watch. Who doesn’t have violent fantasies when someone litters, or dyes their dog’s fur hot pink, or doesn’t use their turn signal? It’s brilliant! I only wish I had seen it before junior year of college, when I made a short film called Nuclear Family Holocaust about a dad who kills his family one by one during dinner for small infractions of table manners… Ah, well.
