(I’m just writing about it now because I’m in a little classic movie groove.)

This movie is alright, I guess.

JUST KIDDING!  It’s fantastic!!  It might even make my Top Ten list of this year, who knows?!?

If you haven’t seen Sunset Blvd. like my poor foolish self hadn’t, you should reconsider your movie-watching priorities and move it to the top of your Netflix queue.  Unless of course you hate beautiful, thrilling, epic films, in which case you may not even have a Netflix account (anymore).

The lasting power of this film is eerie.  I don’t want to give one thing away, but I’ll just say I can see the events of this film taking place in any era.  The illusions of fame would be just as tragic and pathetic.  That said, please please please let there never be a remake.  Can’t some films be sacred?  As per a conversation I had last night with Ashley, this is the kind of film that’s part of our nation’s history, as classic films from the first half of the century are some of the most truly American cultural artifacts that exist.  Hollywood can be blamed for many, many things, and praised for just a few gems like Sunset Blvd. (American Treasure, anyone?)
